About us
Almshouses are unfurnished dwellings, usually specially designed with the needs of independent older people in mind. The aim is to provide modern, convenient, and comfortable accommodation in a setting that allows residents to come and go as they please. Almshouses offer security, and residents are encouraged to make friends and share a more comprehensive social life by using the communal lounge and other facilities when they are available. There is a part-time Almshouse Manager and call system in each flat. In an emergency, such as sudden illness or after a fall, a resident can get help quickly.
The Almshouses provide a peaceful atmosphere in a delightful setting; the extensive gardens are well maintained, with ample places to sit and relax or meet up with friends. Public transport and local amenities are easily accessible.
There is a communal lounge where residents can come together for social events and activities, including coffee mornings, afternoon tea, and exercise classes.
We also hold a monthly Eucharist service.
The Almshouse Manager is on-site Monday to Friday from 09:00 until 15:00.
All residents have a 24-hour, seven-days-a-week emergency link to a call centre, which will send someone out if necessary and has contact details for family, doctors, emergency services, a plumber, or an electrician.
Each flat has a lounge overlooking the gardens, one bedroom, a bathroom, a kitchen, and secure lobby access.
Initial enquiries should be made through the Almshouse Manager, who can provide you with further information or arrange a viewing of the accommodation available.
